Then it’s onto Gurvanbulag, where you will be staying at a ger homestay at the community of local herders. Enter the ger and experience the local hospitality – you will have the opportunity to sample homemade curds, milk tea and airag (fermented mare’s milk) and perhaps also help with preparation. In the afternoon visit the nearby ancient burial sites in the surrounding hills. Or, if you are up for it, head with your guide to the nearby sand dunes, a 5 km / 1hr hike away. In the evening enjoy a home cooked dinner of Khorkhog or similar countryside fare and spend some time socializing with your nomadic hosts over home-made vodka, or alternatively enjoy stargazing in this incredible location – then settle into your ger for the night.
