The Altai Mountains, with eternal snowcapped peaks and glaciers, are the highest range in Mongolia in the far west. This region is famous by its rich cultural heritages of various ethnic minorities. There are Kazakh Muslim people who speak the ancient Kazakh language and Uriankhan people are Buddhist and shamanistic. The trip is dedicated for the passionate adventurers who willing to treat himself with great challenges of marathon and mountain biking in the Holy mountainous region Altai. But is not only challenges, there is plenty of opportunities including Golden Eagle Festival, to experience in unique culture and traditions of the western Mongolian nomads.

18 Sep Day 1 Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar the capital city of Mongolia. Time for own pleasure. Welcome dinner and enjoy traditional performance. Stay overnight in hotel. D

 19 Sep Day 2 Flight to Ulgii
Early morning transfer to airport. Take a flight to Ulgii town, the center of Bayan-Ulgii province at 06.20am. Meet with your guide and drivers. Move for 35kms to our campsite in Sagsai county. Stay overnight in tent. LD

20 Sep Day 3 Golden Eagle Festival!
This day and coming day you will enjoy “The Golden Eagle Festival”. About 11.00am enjoy the Opening ceremony of the festival, commences as the participants join the parade on horse ride with their eagles. The competition begins with each Kazakh displaying his hunting outfit and accessories. The most elaborate and beautiful clothing and accessories are given the highest points. In the afternoon, the Golden Eagles will be evaluated for their speed and agility. In the evening watch a Kazakh concert consisting of traditional songs and dances. Stay overnight in tent. BLD

21 Sep Day 4 Golden Eagle Festival!
Prepare for some exciting action today! The Golden Eagles will be released from a cliff to attack fox skins that will be dragged by their owner on horseback. The eagles will be judged on their success of grabbing the “fox”, their speed, and “gripping” technique. As the points for the competitions are being tallied, the Kazakhs will compete in their traditional game called “kekbar”- passing goat skin which tests one’s horse riding skills, strength and agility. In the late afternoon, the winners of the festival will be announced at the awards ceremony. In the evening, enjoy a celebration dinner. Evening preparation for racing in next days. All bikers will get map of the route and will be clearly informed about track of each phases of the race. Dinner will be special pasta. Stay overnight in tent. BLD

22 Sep Day 5 “Altai Mountain Bike Challenge” (slogan – giving shares for reducing factors to global warming)
Today you can challenge yourself with another exiting event of “Altai Mountain Bike Challenge”.
All bikers gather at starting spot of the race in the morning (fixed time will be announced in advance).  Official opening of the race will take place after short note by organizers and local Governor.
Full day race will cover about 60kms (70kms). And race will follow the local simple dirt track along the valley and cross the mountain passes and hills. Bikers can see and follow clear markings/flags along the way to forward next stops.
Resting points will be established at each 10kms of the trail. (Bikers’ time will be registered at each rest points and at the ending spot of the day).  Stay overnight in tent. BLD

23 Sep Day 6 “Altai Mountain Bike Challenge – Second day”
Bike Challenge will continue on second day. Full day race for another direction will cover about 60kms (70kms). Stay overnight in tent. BLD

24 Sep Day 7 “Altai Mountain Bike Challenge – Third day”
Third day of Bike Challenge. Full day race to another direction will cover about 60kms (70kms). Stay overnight in tent. BLD

25 Sep Day 8 “Altai Mountain Bike Challenge – Fourth day”
Fourth day of Bike Challenge. Full day race to another direction will cover about 60kms (70kms). Event will end by late afternoon. In the evening Awarding Ceremony will take place. Stay overnight in tent. BLD

26 Sep Day 9 Flight back to Ulaanbaatar
Drive back to Ulgii town. Visit to local museum and market place. Transfer to domestic airport and take a flight back to Ulaanbaatar. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to your hotel. Stay overnight in hotel. BL

27 Sep Day 10 Departure
Transfer to airport for departure. B

Included: All activities described in the itinerary, twin/double basis hotel accommodation (2 nights) in Ulaanbaatar, Tent stay (7 nights) in countryside, English speaking guide service, RT domestic flights, Eagle festival fee, all transfers by bus/minibus in the city and 4WD Russian minivan in the countryside. Meals of breakfast, lunch and dinner as mentioned per day itinerary. During the event special meals are provided.
