Location: Ikh Burkhant is located 35 km from Khalkh soum of Dornod province on the west bank of the Khalkh River.
Features: : Ikh Burkhant Buddhist complex plays huge role in Mongolian history and culture. The main sculpture of this complex is huge Jangraisag, the protector god from 8 dangers, surrounded by Stupas and 20 small gods. Image of Jangraisag is carved on the hillside and 30 meters long, and 1 to 3 meters deep in the rock. It was made with stones carried by 1000 carts pulled by bullocks and 200 craftsmen were required to work on it. This complex was built 1859-1864 by Chinggis Khaan’s descendant To Van. He was man of wise and could predict up-coming dangers, therefore he decided to build this complex in order to protect his birthplace. In 1939 as he predicted, Japanese army invaded to Mongolia.
