The area in question is in the very north of the country, close to the border with Russia. The region is filled with open plains and reindeer.
One of the last remaining tribes of reindeer herders called the Tsaatan people live in this area, and you can experience a part of their life by going horseback riding with them and maybe even herding some reindeer. It’s truly a unique and enjoyable experience!!!

The gorgeous Khustai National Park is filled with some of the most beautiful grasslands and mountains on the planet. It’s located in the central north of Mongolia, in the Tov Province (Aimag), some 100 km from the capital city.
The area is filled with some beautiful animals like the Takhi horses, marmots, deer, and more. You’ll be able to see all of them if you take a horseback riding tour through the park.
The Khuvsgul Lake is a special lake for Mongolians – it’s the second purest lake in the world. Lake Khuvsgul is also the largest lake in Mongolia, and much of the area around it is essentially made for trekking on horseback. Plus, it’s the best way to appreciate the beauty of this magnificent lake.
If you won’t be able to spend too much time in Mongolia, the best place to go horse riding is certainly Terelj National Park. It’s very close to the capital city and offers some of the most picturesque landscapes in Mongolia. Plus, the great statue of Chinggis Khaan is there, as well. It’s a must-see attraction in the country!
