This trip is specially tailored for a family trip. What’s our recipe? First, you can’t go on these family adventure trips if you don’t bring your kid and we welcome kids as young as two. Second, on this trip, your family gets closer to you before experiencing all kinds of traditional activities and also can observe nomadic life up close. Third, your children will wake up to a world of wonder, eager to play with new friends.
Travel to nomad community herders
In the morning we will pick you up from your hotel then we will travel to Gurvanbulag Soum (a local administration unit) in Bulgan province which will take 100 km. The area has an amazing view. On the way, we will visit Khar Bukhiin Balgas which is the 10th century ruins of fortress. During that time Kitans used it as a defensive position against their rivals. After lunch at Gurvanbulag eco camp have some rest and refreshment. Enjoy walking to the nearest hillside. We’ll be staying overnight in Gurvanbulag community ger camp. LD
Experience the unique nomadic life
In the morning we will visit nomad families & explore the way of living as nomads. You’ll have an opportunity to milk pastoral animals like goats, sheep, mares and cows. Enjoy making and tasting traditional dairy products like aaruul or dried curds, Mongolian salty milk tea or Suutei tsai, Mongolian biscuit or Boortsog and so on. In the afternoon we will hike to the small dunes about 5-6 km for 2-3 hours. Take a look at the “Nomad Library Project” where you could solve Mongolian puzzle games and read about Mongolian literature. In the evening you can see our special movies about Mongolian horse racing & horse training. We’ll be staying overnight in Gurvanbulag community ger camp. BLD
Enjoy living as nomads
Start your day with a nomadic breakfast. Then we will explore further how nomads spend the day. You can experience milking cows and mares. You kids can play with nomad kids teaching others cool kid stuff. There are plenty of Mongolian games which require involving intellectual and mental abilities to develop children’s thinking skills as well as adults’. So kids can play building their own miniature gers with natural stones in order to learn the steps to erect the real Mongolian ger. Also, all children will attend the lesson of “Shagai”, or the traditional game using anklebones of sheep and goats. There are many shagai game activities which will occupy your child for a while. Close communication with nomads will make you and your kids more familiar with their nature-loved unique lifestyle. In the evening both families will be involved in a joyful competition of “solving riddles” that is organised by our tour guide. We’ll be staying overnights in the Gurvanbulag community Eco ger camp. Travel to Ugii Lake
Today we will be travelling to Ugii Lake which will take 60kms. The freshwater lake which surfaces an area of 25 sq. km is abundant with water birds and with variety of fish. Walk along the lake shore to view the local bird species and enjoy hearing ambient sounds of a calm waving lake moved by a soft wind mixed up with the singing of birds. You can have fun swimming in Ugii Lake with your family and tanning your skin. You will be staying overnight in Ger camp. BLD
Travel to Tsenkher hot spring
We will travel to Tsenkher hot spring which will take 120kms. Today you will hike around the Tsenkher hot spring sightseeing the local landscape. With water issuing at a scalding of +86.5 degrees Celsius with the stench of hydrogen sulphide, the hot spring is very popular in the area. The surrounding area is grassland while some part beside the hills is a bit forested. Relax in a hot spring bath chatting about casual topics. You will be staying overnight in Ger camp. BLD
Travel to Orkhon waterfall
We will journey to Ulaan Tsutgalan which will take 120kms. Ulaan Tsutgalan is created by the Orkhon River which flows for a remarkable 1120 km to the North and lies in the historically significant Orkhon Valley registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The waterfall was formed by the combination of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes some 20000 years ago. The waterfall cascades down from a height of 27 meters. We’ll be staying overnight in Ger camp. Exploring cultural heritages
Today we will travel to Kharakhorum for about an hour for 100 km. We will visit the largest and first Mongolian Buddhist monastery Erdene Zuu, built on the ruins of the ancient capital city of the Great Mongolian Empire. Then we will visit a local historical museum dedicated to the old capital city. After visiting the main attraction we can explore interesting sites around Kharakhorum. We’ll be staying overnight in Ger camp. BLD
Travel to mountain Khognokhaan & ride two-humped Bactrian camels
We will travel to Khognokhaan which will take 90kms. We will check in a ger camp. In the afternoon we will do some trekking and exploring the dunes of Ikh Mongol. Your family will enjoy camel riding for one hour. Everybody can have the opportunity to ride this giant, but very calm animal. It depends on how you will enjoy camel riding, thus you can extend the time to ride the three-decker on the sand. We’ll be staying overnight in Ger camp. BLD
Travel to Hustai National ParkWe will travel to Hustai National Park about 3-4hours drive distance of 200kms. We will visit the reservation area that protects wild horses or Takhi. Takhi were nearly extinct but thanks to several European zoos who managed to breed the Przewalski’s horse, they were able to return most of the wild horses to the home country of Mongolia. Followed by an hour of rest your family will attend a short presentation about the park and its wildlife at the Information Center. We’ll be staying overnight in Ger camp. BLD
Exploring wild animals
This is the day to learn more about the wildlife of the Mongolian steppe. You will be taken by your car for about half an hour to reach a trail to find wild animals. Look for wild horses and see herds at the pasture. Your family will enjoy about a 3-3.5-hour walk along the mountain hills and forest where encounter wild deer, gazelles, marmots and other small animals. The Hustai National Park covers a 50620ha reserve in order to protect not only wild horses but also many species of wild games, birds and plants. You will have a picnic lunch in the wilderness. Your kids can enjoy many types of wildflowers, and the interesting life of butterflies on the way to reach the next camping spot. We’ll be staying overnight in Ger camp.BLD
Travel back to Ulaanbaatar
We will travel back to Ulaanbaatar city which will take 100 km. Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar city, we will transfer you to your hotel. End of the service. B
