This fantastic trip allows you to enjoy the classic event famed as the “Nomad Olympics”. It takes you behind the cultural background of ancient traditions inherited from generation to generation for centuries. When participating in the Naadam Festival you will experience the thrill of watching hundreds of racing horses with their remarkable young riders, strong wrestlers performing the “Eagle Dance” and traditionally dressed archers drawing their bows and impressive competition of ankle bones shooting. But our tour doesn’t stop there. You will also have the chance to discover the training of the fast horses and to explore more in-depth the preparation of wrestlers and the traditional archery techniques.

08 Jul Day 1 Travel to Hustai National Park

We will travel to Hustai National Park which will take 100kms. The National Park covers an area of 50.620ha reserve, protecting the wild Mongolian horses famed as Takhi or Przewalski’s horse. We will visit the information center and get more insight about the Takhi horse. We will visit the Hustai National Park and spot the wild horses hiking around the area. We will be staying overnight in ger camp. LD

09 Jul Day 2Travel to Kharakhorum

We will travel to Kharakhorum which will take 270kms to reach. Kharakhorum is the ancient capital of Mongolia where Chinggis Khaan established his capital of his Empire in 1220. In 1235, his son and successor, Ogodei built a Palace protected by walls. You will visit to Erdene Zuu Monastery, the largest and first Mongolian Buddhist temple complex built on the ruins of 16th century Kharakhorum and a newly opened Local Museum. We will also visit a local cooperative felt workshop and witness how they make the felt products in a cool way. We’ll be staying overnight in ger camp. BLD

10-11 Jul Day 3-4 Naadam Festival Days!

Naadam Festival is the only one of its kind and expresses the nomadic culture. It is the honored celebration of a national independence and proudness and it is an outstanding combination of arts and sports. The core of the festivals are the three manly sports which is the wrestling, horseracing and archery. Embrace many elements of arts, such as the performance of throat singing and the folklore dancing. Naadam Festival begins during the middle of July period of time. Therefore everyone takes the opportunity to witness the opening ceremony showing many shows related to Mongolian history and culture. Come travel to Mongolia with us to experience Naadam Festival which is held only in Mongolia and nowhere else. You’ll be staying overnights in ger camp. BLD

12 Jul Day 5 Travel to Orkhon Valley and making a “Ger”

We will travel to Orkhon valley which will take 120km. It is known as the cradle of Mongolian civilization as many of Mongolia’s ancient monuments lie within its borders. Enjoy trekking to deer stone for 7-8kms. In the afternoon you will enjoy activities for dismantling and erecting a Ger. You can learn how to put a Ger and at the same time find out deep meanings, symbols and customs related to “Mongolian Ger” in nomadic culture. You’ll be staying overnight in ger camp. BLD

13 Jul Day 6Travel to Tuvkhun temple

We will travel to Tuvkhun temple which will take 50kms. Tuvkhun temple situated in the high mountain marking the northern side of the Orkhon valley. We will visit the site where Mongolian first religious leader Saint Zanabazar founded in 1653 and lived, worked and meditated for over 30 years. Several pilgrimage sites have built around the temple including the hermit’s caves. Inside the cave you can witness the boot imprint of Saint Zanabazar. In the afternoon you will travel for 70kms about two hours to Tsenkher hot spring. You will be staying overnight in a ger camp. BLD

14 Jul Day 7 Travel to Tsenkher hot spring

Today you will hike around the Tsenkher hot spring sightseeing the local landscape. With water issuing at a scalding of +86.5 degree Celsius with the stench of hydrogen sulphide, the hot spring is very popular in the area. Surrounding area is the grassland while some part beside the hills is bit forested. Relax in a hot spring bath chatting about casual topics. You will be staying overnight in a ger camp. BLD

15 Jul Day 8 Travel to Ugii lake

Today we will be travelling to Ugii Lake which will take 150kms. The fresh water lake which surfaces area of 25sq.kms is abundant with water birds and with variety of fish. Walk along the lake shore to view the local bird species and enjoy hearing ambient sounds of a calm waving lake moved by a soft wind mixed up with the singing of birds. You can have a fun swimming in Ugii Lake with your family and tanning your skin. You will be staying overnight in ger camp. BLD

16 Jul Day 9 Travel to nomad community

We will travel to Gurvanbulag community which will take 60km. There you can experience how the nomad Mongols living nowadays. The hostess of the family will demonstrate you how to produce the tasty and nutritious dairy products including “aaruul” or dried curds, “byaslag” or Mongolian cheese. You can talk with nomad people and get more familiar with their nature loved unique lifestyle. You’ll be staying overnight in Gurvanbulag community ger camp. BLD

17 Jul Day 10 Experiencing horse based culture

Today you will watch how Mongolian skillful cowboys catch horses by “uurga” or the traditional wooden lasso. Participate in milking process of mare by holding the foals next to their mothers, churning airag or fermented mare’s milk. You would see blending process of Mongolian traditional vodka called “Shimiin arkhi”. No doubt, you’ll be invited to try that vodka, but please do not overdrink it. Enjoy the horse riding trip around the area. In the evening you will involve in the preparation of dinner and enjoy learning how to prepare the Mongolian dish. We’ll be staying overnight in Gurvanbulag community ger camp. BLD

18 Jul Day 11 Move to Khognokhaan & camel riding

We will journey to Khognokhaan Natural Reserve which will take 70km. The area has been protected since 1997 and covering 46900ha of the beautiful granite mountain of Paleozoic age. There’s lot of snakes camouflaged themselves to hunt. So it’s best to be vigilant during the hike. It’s optional visit to Erdenekhamba a local Buddhist temple and an old ruin of Uvgun Monastery. Enjoy camel riding trek along small sand dunes for two hours. You will be staying overnight in a ger camp. BLD

19 Jul Day 12 Travel back to Ulaanbaatar

Today we will travel to Ulaanbaatar which will take 280kms to reach. We will transfer you to your hotel. End of the service. BL

Private tour: This is a private tour, and you can book it on any day of your choice.

Occupancy: you can stay in a single, twin or double room/ger/tent (where applicable). Single occupancy may not be possible during the Naadam festival (July 5th -15th) at ger camps. At community-based camps and ger homestays, single occupancy is subject to availability. Single and twin/double occupancy at ger camps require an extra supplement as shown in the above table.

Discounts*: Our clients can take an opportunity to get the following discount options:

  • An early bird discount of 10% is applicable for bookings made 9 months in advance.
  • An early bird discount of 5% is applicable for bookings made 6 months in advance.
  • Children up to 2 years old travel free, 3-8 years old get 40% off and 9-12 years old get 20% off. Age as on the last day of the tour. /Children discount does not apply to adults rate/
