An exploratory and active adventure through the steppe, sand dunes, rugged hills and stunning landscapes of central Mongolia. Authentic yurt stays next to nomadic families at Khogno Khaan and Orkhon Valley combine with multi-day treks, both on foot with pack yaks and in a Bactrian camel caravan through the changing landscapes of the forested Khangai hills, sand dunes of Elsen Tasarkhai, wide valleys of the Orkhon river, up to the more remote region of Naiman Nuur. Highlights of Erdene Zuu Monastery and wildlife in Khustai National park round off this epic journey.
Day 1 Travel to Khognokhan mountain & Camel riding
Morning pick up at your hotel and travel to Khognokhan mountain Nature reserve for 280kms. Afternoon upon arrival in the area, our local camel man, specialist guide and trail finder will welcome and greet us. You will be invited to his Ger to taste nomadic drinks and dairy products. Followed by brief instruction for riding Mongolian two humped Bactrian camel you will get acquainted with the camels and tacks. Then our warm up ride will start to sand dunes. You will enjoy amazing formations and landscape on the way, while riding through sand dunes until reaching our camping spot. This day ride covers around 2-3hours. Stay overnight in Ger camp. LD
Day 2 – 3 Trekking & Arrival in Gurvanbulag community
These days we will travel with the Camel caravan and trekking. All equipments and our luggage will be packed on the camels and travel through the Silk Road across the sand dunes to Gurvanbulag community. Along the way, we will pass beautiful sand dunes and mountain, as well as we have many chances to encounter camel herders, local nomads and wildlife. Second day late afternoon arrival in Gurvanbulag community. Rest time. Stay overnights in Tent on the way & in community based Ger camp. BLD
Day 4 Exploring Orkhon valley – UNESCO World heritage site & Karakorum city
On this day, we will continue travel about 100kms to a famous cultural and historical site where many statues of ancient Tureg Empire as dated back to 6th-8th centuries are discovered. We will visit the museum and then continue our travel to Kharakhorum, the city was founded in 1220 by an adoption of Chinggis Khaan and destroyed in 14th century. Later it rebuilt as a first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. We will visit the Buddhist temple complex of Erdene Zuu and Historical museum. Stay overnight in Ger camp. BLD
Day 5 Travel to Orkhon valley & Trekking start day
Morning we will travel to Orkhon valley for 120kms. On the way we will visit to Orkhon waterfall, the waterfall formed by combination volcanic eruption and earthquakes some 20000 years ago cascades down from a height 27 meters. The Orkhon, longest river in Mongolia, begins at the state worshipped mountain Suvraga Khairkhan in the Khangai mountain range. Continue drive to Tsagaannuur valley for 15-20kms. Afternoon you will meet with your local assistants who will care our entire luggage, camping equipments and food provisions for transporting by pack yaks, rented from local people. No vehicle will be supporting our trip for next four days. Then trekking about 3hours. We will stay overnight in tent nearby Khurdet mountain. Stay overnight in Tent. BLD
Day 6 Trekking through Khuisiin Naiman Nuur Nature reserve
After hearty breakfast in the morning, we will trek through the Khuisiin Naiman nuur. Trekking to mountain pass Amgalan. Continue trekking through Tsagaan Azarga valley. On the way we will cross the river with horse. Also again trekking cross the Khukh Davaa. Stay overnight in Tent nearby Khuis Lake. BLD
Day 7 Trekking to Shireet Lake
Today we will trekking to Shireet Tsagaan Lake for 15-16km. Shireet Tsagaan Lake is the largest lake of Khuisiin Naiman Nuur Nature reserve. Stay overnight in Tent north side of the lake. BLD
Day 8 Last day trekking
Today we will trekking for 12kms along the largest lake of Naiman Nuur. Arrive in Ger camp and rest time. We meet our drivers here. Stay overnight in Ger camp. BLD
Day 9 Travel to
Travel to Khujirt for 150kms. Stay overnight in Ger camp. BLD
Day 10 Travel to Khustai National Park
Morning we will drive to Khustai National Park which covers about 50,620 sq.km area. Visit the Information Center for having an introductory presentation of the National Park. In the park, we will see wild horses (known as Prezawalski horse) and other wild animals like deer and marmots. Stay overnight in Ger camp. BLD
Day 11 Trekking
Today we will trekking for 12-15kms along the mountain area. Arrive in Ger camp and rest time. Stay overnight in Ger camp. BLD
Day 12 Travel to Ulaanbaatar
In the morning, we will drive about 100kms to Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to your hotel. End of the service. B

Occupancy: you can stay in a single, twin or double room/ger/tent (where applicable). Single occupancy may not be possible during the Naadam festival (July 5th -15th) at ger camps. At community-based camps and ger homestays, single occupancy is subject to availability. Single and twin/double occupancy at ger camps require an extra supplement as shown in the above table.
